Very nice build David. What clears did you use?

Alec K: For gloss, I used Tamiya X-22 thinned with Mr. Color leveling thinner. For flat, I used Testors acrylic flat thinned with water.

I will have to give the Testors Acryl flat a try. In the pics, the finish seems to retain a bit of sheen, which I like.

Timothy: Agreed, the kit is excellent, I wish there was more detail in the cockpit though.
Alec K: Yeah it is not dead flat, but this time it dried a little bit grey, which was fine, because it contributed to the final weathering.
Everyone else: Thanks and I am glad you liked "yet another Spitfire". It a WWII clasic and every one should build one in their lifetime 😉

This was mainly a "vacation" project. The kit has only 2 sprues + clear parts. The engineering and fit of the kit is excellent. Exactly what you should expect in 2017. The only putty I had to apply was at spots where I did not cut the part from the sprue cleanly.

The cockpit detail is very limited, so if you like a lots of details in your cockpits, I would say get some aftermarket parts.

I tried to do blackbasing on this kit and it does produce very nice tonal variation. I did a better job on the underside then the camo. The greys are Tamiya RAF gray (XF-82, XF-83). Interior, dark green and the sky type "S" band are mission model paints, which I am liking more and more.

I added HGW's seat belts - first time. Very nice aftermarket parts. The trick was to peel the fabric from the backing so it would thread through the buckles.

For decals I tried solvaset. I like it better then micro set/sol. However I touc
