Painted the red, but not very happy with it will micromesh it, and repaint it, may be with some drop of scale75 red ink in order to increase pigments quantity
19 April 2018, 08:01
seb H
as i was really not happy with the red i cleaned it, same player try again...
19 April 2018, 08:24
Spanjaard
What was wrong with it? Pictures looked ok
19 April 2018, 10:26
seb H
I find it more orange than red, now i have primed in white, then will paint a layer of yellow, then red, i've seen many people doing this, and some of my clubs friend explain me it was a good way to have a really beautiful red
19 April 2018, 12:24
Spanjaard
wow. i have to remember that one 🙂 thanks Seb
19 April 2018, 16:43
seb H
you are welcome my friend 🙂

Excellent work so far seb! 👍
19 April 2018, 20:45
Martin Oostrom
A silver layer under the red also can make the red vibrant
19 April 2018, 20:53
Clifford Keesler
Looking good.
19 April 2018, 20:58
seb H
Thanks mates, ok martin will try, for this one, white primer + yellow layer work really good, i've made a comparison photos to show the differences, with yello layer the red is much more deeper 🙂
19 April 2018, 21:01
Martin Oostrom
Oh yeah. That's much better.
I also like the rest of your plane 👍
19 April 2018, 21:06
seb H
thanks martin 🙂
19 April 2018, 21:07
Spanjaard
i must say you were absolutely right. i thought i was nice before. but the comparison make it all very clear. result is a loooot better now.

David Januska
Awesome work. Looking forward for final result. It seems for me to move from 1/72 scale to bigger one.
20 April 2018, 06:11
Spanjaard
why, it would be more fun to try this kind detail in 1/72😉
20 April 2018, 06:34
seb H
Yes David go to 1/48 much more easier to improve your models in my opinion, but some Master manage to do it in 1/72 not me 🙂
20 April 2018, 07:00
David Januska
I've tried to make it in 1/72 (see my photoalbum here on scalemates) but it is uncomparable. But the difference is not only the scale. Seb's Thunderbolt is far, far much better.
20 April 2018, 10:33
seb H
Yes this kit is really Nice, its tamiya then almost everything is said, for me 1/48 is the Best scale, not too big, not too small, plenty of brand with good quality selling great stuff, i have also plan some 1/32 for planes i really love (p40, corsair)
20 April 2018, 11:30
Spanjaard
We will stay tuned for those

Here is an update, tried a new technique for me, used a black pencil after doing washes on the panel intersection, works great , but i'm bit confused i have some silvering, I used brillant varnish before posing decals, and after but still silvering, will try to solve this..tam decals were a bit tick (and i used decal softener) 🙁
3 May 2018, 08:00
seb H
I managed to reduced silvering, and used oilbrushes and dots technique to had some weathering on the OD, tomorrow i will do the other side
3 May 2018, 22:27
Clifford Keesler
Excellent job.

4 May 2018, 06:35

the Tamiya P 47 is probably the best in 1:48 you can get, and you aged the model very realistically and made beautiful pictures 👍 👍, thanks for sharing 🙂
4 May 2018, 06:40
Palo G
The result is great ! 🙂

Seb, I just had another look and I MUST give you further praise. Mate, I am so impressed! The detail in the cockpit is so good it is almost like looking at a 1 to 1! The radial engine is phenomenal! The overall model is faded and weathered perfectly! Again, so impressed!
4 May 2018, 07:22

another stunner in your collection Seb, simply excellent! terrein and grass are perfect, and the plane is incredible. with he right background, it could pass as the real deal....
now, get back to D-Day dio😉 😄
9 May 2018, 06:14
seb H
thanks spanjaard 🙂 Still some work on this one (2 figs and weathering of the jeep) but yes, when it will be over, back on omaha beach 🙂
9 May 2018, 07:34
seb H
Hello all, it's done 🙂 Thanks all for all your very kind words, really enjoyed to build this one (except the tickness of decals) Let's go back on my omaha beach diorama 🙂
12 May 2018, 18:33
Spanjaard
figures look really nice! I have used the same pilot for a dio, a long, long time ago 🙂 great to still see one of them still around 🙂
pity that Verlinden moulds are now gone for ever.....
12 May 2018, 21:26
seb H
yes spanjaard, verlinden was THE company for me for many years, when I was child when i began doing scalemodels, I bought one of their catalogues it was about 30 years ago, and watched it for hours, I was really shocked when i Saw pictures of this guys throwing verlinden moulds to the trash
I could recognize verlinden eye closed just by sanding and smelling one piece of resin 🙂
12 May 2018, 21:45
Spanjaard
same here.... i remember buying those figures when that was incredibly expensive for me... no internet and Verlinden being basically the one and only.... i still have a couple of those old catalogues!
12 May 2018, 21:54
seb H
lol they are still there too 🙂 I went to the hobby shop I had in my town and spend hours looking at all those wonderfull kit 🙂
12 May 2018, 22:06
Spanjaard
me too 🙂 but i had to travel 45 minutes to a bigger town to get them. nothing in my small town at that time (even less there today 🙁 )
12 May 2018, 22:13
seb H
no more hobby shop too :'( but internet saved us 🙂
12 May 2018, 22:20
Spanjaard
indeed!!!
12 May 2018, 22:43

Kudos Seb, lovely scene. As for the tamiya tbolt, it is probably one of the best aircraft kit around in 48, deserves all the love and attention!

Thanks murad 🙂

David Januska
Well, incredible work. I like it. What will be next?
14 May 2018, 07:06
seb H
Thanks David, I'm going to work again on my omaha diorama still about 90 figs to paint 🙂 : scalemates.com/profi..ts&project=23815 But has it's a very big project, i'll certainly begin A M10 from tamyia, Taking place here in alsace in december 1944, I want to create a forest diorama with a bit of snow
14 May 2018, 07:11
David Januska
Good luck. Looking forward for your next perfect photos. I was on D day beaches (including Omaha) as a tourist years ago, one of my first foreign trips from Czechoslovakia after 1989 when it was possible.
14 May 2018, 08:31
Martin Oostrom
Seb, I'll be on vacation this summer just 3km from the beach. If there's anything I can do with photos, just let me know.
14 May 2018, 11:17
seb H
Thank you very much martin 🙂 has i'm only doing a part of the beach i'll check ww2 photos to know what king of obstacle to put on the beach, and i've been there few years ago so i have some photos, the hardest thing is goind to get the good color for the water 🙂 so if you manage to have good photos of the color of the sea 🙂 thank you some much for this martin 🙂
14 May 2018, 11:53
Martin Oostrom
I'll give it a go. I can't promise it'll storm like in '44, but we'll see.

Sounds like a wonderful holiday Martin. Sure you couldn't go the extra 200 kilometres and find some sun?
14 May 2018, 21:02
Martin Oostrom
We're not into sunbathing. Normandy is fine by me 😉
14 May 2018, 21:34
Spanjaard
beautiful area i must say. i should go there again one day.
14 May 2018, 21:45
Peter Hardy
Now that is beautiful! Normandy? Really??? australiantraveller...t-while-youre-young/
15 May 2018, 00:57
Martin Oostrom
Yup Normandy google.nl/search?q=n..;biw=375&bih=628
But your place is beautiful as well. I like both 😄
15 May 2018, 05:07
Peter Hardy
The big pub on the island looks a bit flash mate. You sure you can afford it?
15 May 2018, 07:38
seb H
both places are beautifull not in the same way 😉 but you should have a look here : google.nl/search?cli..522....0.ubPP-FcYpc0 🙂 🙂 🙂
15 May 2018, 07:38
Peter Hardy
It's going to sound a bit weird Seb but the green forests, blue lakes and snow capped mountains just don't do it for me. Funny eh? My wife is from Thailand, all green and blue. Beautiful place but give me an endless red landscape, Afghanistan, Colorado, Libiya, Algeria, Atacama ect. They light me up!
15 May 2018, 07:44
seb H
way too hot for me 🙂
15 May 2018, 08:12
Peter Hardy
In winter they would all be way too cold too. In six weeks I am taking Mam to a desert for her first time. It's all about colours I think Seb. And in all of the places I mentioned, the space. Vast, empty space. My cousin is Canadian and is brought to tears by those ancient forests, ice blue lakes and snow capped craggy peaks. I can't wait to get to Europe in a couple of years and see what you guys all love about it. The green and the history and the idyllic little villages. Should be wonderful!
15 May 2018, 08:23
Arne Greve
Bonjour Seb, what a beautiful Diorama. I like the "Jug", I like the Willys Jeep, so there is all, I like! Nice build!!
