One day looking through my books I found a really interesting photo of an M8 HMG somewhere in Italy providing support fire for a japanese-american assault on a mountain side. I got interested and decided to build the thing but the only offer of M8 kits was the really old Tamiya kit with all the well-known detail and dimensional issues. Well, as I refused to pay over US$100 for a resin replica thatv also has many issues, I went for the build.

Thanks for the encouragement guys! I'm kind of a slow builder, my work is extremely time consuming and barely leaves me with some free time. Nevertheless, I went on to finishing the exterior details and primed the whole model with Tamiya primer. This is a necessary step as the models has very different materials in it (copper, aluminum, brass, polyestyrene and resin!), so the paint needs a uniform surface to properly and permanently cover all surfaces. Current work is focused on the suspension, wheels and tracks. I got Friulmodel tracks because I like the way real metal "hangs". To me it adds a lot of realism to the model, although they are expensive and take a long time to assemble and fit. All I all, this project has become a costly one as the final bill is getting over the 100 bucks I refused to pay for a resin replica. What can I say? Well, it's been fun!

I saw the same picture and I am also building an M8 (althogh all my building has ground to a halt). I will be looking forward to this build.

What seems to be the problem? The assault was from the 442nd Regiment "Nisei" the famous Japanese-American unit of WWII.

It's a cool picture isn't it? Given the slope angle on that hill, only the M8 could do the job. I guess the 75mm rounds passed right aside the infantry or the assault came from a different direction. Brave men!

Ah ok, no problem, just didn't understand it like that. Yap nice picture.
