The details look really good, and the paintjob and finish are very well done! One of the best Schwalbe in 1/48 that I have seen.

I like how you chiped the decal! How did you do it?

Roger Blanc
To avoid missunderstandings, the finished model you see, is an awesome built model by Julien Hacoun ! It's my ideal what I want to build. The decals are, as you see in project inventory, from eagle strike, too little to late, are "pre chipped". I will try to make them as similar as possible like seen on the originalPicture.

the preshading of the panellines, did you do them with a marker? Doesn't it give problems with bleeding through the paint after a while?
29 September 2014, 10:45
Wim van der Luijt
I'm following this one...(maybe edit the pics in the gallery so the descriptions show which ones are not your own work?)

I've used marker pen on somethings, it does bleed a bit depending on the paint but once that coat has dried that tends to be the end of the bleeding, but the bleeding does help to soften the edges which is handy for preshading etc
Anyhow, coming along nicely, wheel wells look great 🙂

Hi all, Thanks to your feedback 🙂 The preshading with marker is indeed a test, a try "how will it look like ?" I read some experiences with that marker that tere will be no problems, means exactly with that type of Marker. @ Wim, you are right, I will reload them again, obviously marked, that they are made by Julien Hacoun. I also will try to make better Fotos. I'm a little bit disappointed about.

Thanks to you all 🙂
The last I did before I packed my tools, was a test with the Marker on my "test environment F14". marking pannellines -> glossy sealer -> whashing -> glossy sealer -> decals -> "not so glossy" sealer mixed with little trace elements of color. It doesn't look bad . I will try to make good photos to see the result.

On the test Modell now finished the Sandpaper work. Next step primer ( AK grey acrylics ). Then we will see how good the work was

As you can see on my last pictures ( 1.1.2023 ). The fit of the Key parts is really poor. I must also further use putty on my Jabo bait modell. The edge on left wing to fuselage is not good enough. The second ME 262 will be built better regarding this.

Still looking good though Roger. It is an old kit though. I'm just building Revell's new 1:32 Me262.

Roger Blanc
That's great, Alan! I will build a 1/32 too in future!
On picture 25 and 26 the result of 4 evenings putty and sanding of the nose. Now painting the interior of the fuselage and mounting the wings. And maybe sanding the nose again. Something is not looking good enough, I'm shure I'll see it if it when I spray one, two levels RLM76.

The Sandpaper work needed much more time I presumed. There was also a massive use of putty. But now, it's OK on both machines. I will apply preshading on the Jabo Bait with airbrush too. I have no good feeling with the marker ones. I learnd much about sand paper work and putty. … too much…😃

Now the journey together is over. Means all work which must be done on both planes in the same way is done. One of them will be the Jabo bait, the other one my restored Me 262. 😀

Camouflage of the restored machine with my restored Airbrush applied. RLM82 with enamel and RLM83 with acrylic. Now to figure out how to brush the sprinkles on the side

After applying the camouflage with adding a glossy Level, started to apply the decals. But first a shock. Started with the black crosses, but the first 3 crashed! After a few minutes panic I remembered that to use hand warm water. And NOT let them in the water for being movable. After using Mr Mark setter and Mr. Mark softer they are fitting well.

Looking great Roger

The restored Machine is finished now. There are a lot of lessons learned, until to the last doings.
- Don't use the decals out of the box. Even with massive Mr Mark setter and softer, they silver extremely, marked with yellow arrows on the Photo. The decals of eagle strike are great. You see the difference immediately. Jabo bait will be only made with the eagle strike decals.
- apply Klear, if you have to the Canopy. The effect is awesome. But I cannot recommend it for a glossy layer on the whole plane. Take a real good clear glossy coat for this.
The canopy is crooked and skewed mounted because also it is not fitting at all. They thaught, it can be mounted open, and then it doesn't matter whether it's not fitting. If I find a canopy which is closed and only one part, I will replace it.
Now ongoing with the Jabo bait!

I use Klear as my gloss coat for decals. Never had a problem with it. As you say though. It's also great for canopies

Looks like a long term project - would love some more pictures of the finished Jet

Finished! A lot of experience made, a lot of lessons learned. Most positive was the thing with „Klear" for the canopy. There is also the most negative, the canopy itself. If you make this model, you MUST this build with open canopy. Else it looks crappy like mine. My opinion is, a Me 262 must be build with closed canopy, so you can see the beauty of this plane at it's best. Also awesome is the chipping fluid. It looks more realistic than painted. Also positive is my new AirViper Airbrush. The handling is perfect, really made for scale modeling. But strongly recommended: If you unbox it, also dismount it completely and mount it new. I thought it was DOA when used it first time. Color came out on every trigger position, spraying ugly dots, etc, all OK after dismount and remount.
Maybe I will build a 262 again, a newer kit.
