With a 12 page 8-1/2 X 11 instruction manual and the Ertl name on the project I expected more. Entire steps are missing like adding the exhaust or attaching the body, it just suddenly appears in the next step. There are no color call outs at all. The model can be built stock, custom or drag. The racing tires are two piece plastic with the GoodYear name on them. Very difficult to true up. The interior is fairly detailed ant the doors open, but unfortunately not the trunk which would have been cool.
The 1958 Impala had a quad-headlight front end and flamboyant new styling. Using a 1957 color guide I chose a cream and black exterior with a tan and copper interior. I made it into a drag vehicle because building this kit was a drag and I just wanted to have fun as you can tell from my whimsical addition of aluminum trim and decals.
