Interesting approach to the painting Albi???This pre shadowing is seen allot with the aircraft builds but not so much with armor.
The thing is that? the areas that I would normally highlight with a lighter shade after the base coat, you have sort of done the opposite. A darker shade before the base coat.
I do see that you have darkened some of the recesses as I do, although I usually do this as part of the conventional modulation process.
Interesting.
Now, what would it look like if instead of pre-shading the edges a dark color, you would pre-shade with a very light color (If shading is the correct word here)?
Nice work on the breech assembly, what color is that?
And are going to throw down some camo?
Thanks for the post!

Ah, another project of Albi. I'll follow this already great looking project 🙂

Hi James, to be honest, I experiment with the pre shading techniques (darker weld seam and highlighted edges with color modulation for example).
But yore right. I try to reach the same effects as with the conventional modulation techniques.
The breech is painted with Tamiya White an a little Tamiya Buff. then I use oils and the AK Interior weathering set. The signs of abrasion are made with Vallejo Panzergrau Primer with the sponge technique.
I'm looking for a special camo on this one.
Maby a winter camo with a dark yellow with green pattern base gleaming thru infrequent stripes or a three color camo with disc pattern ...

..Thanks for the reply and information Albi; I?ll use that tip about the buff mixed with white the next time I model an exposed breach. I like Vallejo over Tamiya for brush work however.
I look forward to whatever camo scheme you come up with because the stuff we have discussed here crosses my mind frequently.
I?m guessing the final result of your build will show that there are more than one way to achieve a similar effect. I?ve noticed this occurs allot in modeling.
As for camouflage schemes and German AFV?s, I?ve been playing around trying to integrate Panzer Gray into the usual Tri-Color motif???.something I saw on an Adam Wilder build?..it looked very, very good??
Tuned in, good luck
Sincerely,
WF??JVJ.
