3 July 2012, 20:51
Augie

3 July 2012, 20:58
Urban Gardini
That's the spirit mate! 😉
3 July 2012, 21:00
Holger Kranich
Yeah! If i didnt counted right, we are 7 now;)!
3 July 2012, 21:04
Frank Krause
@Augie: Hmm, an UH-1C. So we get different types together. Great!
Something else, too? Another Hind...? With eagle camouflage? 😉
3 July 2012, 21:06
Augie
well its a B.. but its gonna be hard work.. I'll upload the sprue shots and you will see the problem....
3 July 2012, 21:15
Frank Krause
A B, yes! I idiot typed C, because I read to much about C's today...
Hard work? After the fine, good job with your Hind, what could be a problem for you, even if the kit turns out to be an B-class kit?
3 July 2012, 21:24
Augie
Just let me up-load the piccie.. you'll see.. I think i'll be scratch building rotors along with surfboards...
3 July 2012, 21:26
Augie
Shots are up... its the last 3 that are the horror.. the horror..
3 July 2012, 21:38
Frank Krause
Ups, what happened there? The big holes seem to be quite deep, that even filling and sanding wouldn't bring back the needed stiffness(?). The rotors are a challenge...
3 July 2012, 21:53
Augie
Looks like the rubber ammo belts have somehow melted into the plastic of the rotors... will have to see if i can salvage them somehow
3 July 2012, 21:58
Sherif Sharmy
Hey u augieautogiro..................what`s with u and helis?
3 July 2012, 22:16
Augie
Lol sherif, its for the group build.. and blame frank, he picked it
3 July 2012, 22:18
Augie
and besides... i kinda like the way they beat air into submission until they take flight 😉
3 July 2012, 22:50
Sherif Sharmy
Have u ever played Gunship on the pc?
3 July 2012, 23:54
Sherif Sharmy
How about an Apache? Have u seen the movie Firebirds by Nicolas Cage
3 July 2012, 23:56
Augie
yeah i played it on pc... and yes firebirds (or wings of apache in uk) i've seen.. i would love a 1:35 apache.. 🙂 big tho

Youtube Video Some Music for you guys. 🙂

4 July 2012, 00:37
Urban Gardini
I'd bin the rotor blades n' try to source a new kit instead.

Holger Kranich
Music from 60´s and 70´s fit pretty good in the Vietnam Groupbuild;) I loved it whilst playing Battlefield Vietnam!

Burkhard D
Hey Augie. Looks repairable from here. On the leading and trailing edges, just cut away the melted plastic generously (!) leaving square cutouts that can be filled with square pieces of styrene sheet corresponding in size. Let the glue thoroughly dry and then blend everything in using a file. May sound scary and look scary in the beginning, just give it a try - nothing to lose anyway. Standard practice for repairing broken wing trailing edges. 🙂
The surface damage can be cured with filler - unless the damage is so deep that there's no 'flesh' left for the filler to stick to, of course.
View it as fixing battle damage, even seems to fit the topic 😉

Maybe I'm in butnot in 1735 scale. maybe a 1772 chopper just for fun,
I know it's only 1/35 allowed 🙂
4 July 2012, 11:10
Augie
Thanks Burkhard.. I'm seeing what i can do for them.. failing that will look for a spare pair of blades
4 July 2012, 17:56
Markus Kutsch The Plastic Bench
Uhhhhhh,thats heavy @Augie
i am not sure if i would put so much work in these Blades like Burkhard said.
But ,give it a try.
How could that happen???
4 July 2012, 18:22
Sherif Sharmy
Did the kit come like that or what...........it looks repairable and i agree with Burkhard. You are lucky as the blades are straight lines with a lit curvature on it. Plastic sheet will do a great job. I once repaired the whole tail and rudder of revell`s f4 using plastic sheet. the photo is in one of my albums.................u cant notice it even a close-up..................good luck
4 July 2012, 18:23
Augie
Hey Markus, Sherif.. they came like it..

Its the compound of rubber, its chemicaly active so eats the plastic..
4 July 2012, 18:30
Sherif Sharmy
Try taking measurements of each blade and make it of pastic sheet as the huey did not have a very detailed blades. be careful not to touch the rubber..........................it might eat u!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4 July 2012, 23:45
Augie
Someone been a busy girl... New pictures of the blades being repaird...

5 July 2012, 18:17
Markus Kutsch The Plastic Bench
Whhhoaaawiiie,I dont believe it. You did a very well job,Augie.I dont think i would do such a work,i had throw them in the bin.
You did it very well !! 🙂
5 July 2012, 18:21
Frank Krause
Well done, Augie! Your repairjob is looking really good! I also got to start. Still got some work to do, but weekend should be fine.
5 July 2012, 18:22
Augie
Actually guys.. it was pretty simple.. I tried something new and it just worked..

All i did was stuck a peice of selotape across the back of the blade.. and filled the gaps with superglue.. it doesnt stick to the tape.. 🙂
5 July 2012, 18:25
Markus Kutsch The Plastic Bench
He,he .You got just to know how!
5 July 2012, 18:27
Augie
well now you do too....🙂
5 July 2012, 18:28
Chris W
Now that's how you fix things! Good job - I love to see great saves like that. With the right glues, plastics, putties and sanding sticks - practically everything can be fixed!
5 July 2012, 18:35
Augie
🙂 thanks CW.. I'm kinda amazed it worked..
5 July 2012, 18:42
Augie
Ok, this thing is a pig... Frank you certainly got the pick of the pair 😉
5 July 2012, 20:49
Augie
Lol Tempting Guido......actually.. i wonder...
5 July 2012, 21:48
Frank Krause
@Augie: After your great job with the Hind, what could stop you...? Nothing - as we see! I picked the right one. You'll do a good job on her... 😉
@Guido: To put one on top... and the pilots wearing pettycoats... 🙂
5 July 2012, 22:20
Augie
🙂 somehow i suspecvty that is going to follow me around
5 July 2012, 22:31
babak chalangi
this gonna be epic
5 July 2012, 22:33
Sherif Sharmy
Are u going to remove the tape? Tapes, after some time loses grip and gets sticky when the glue get old.............so be careful augie
5 July 2012, 22:38
Augie
hi Sherif, the tape is removed.. it is only there to give the superglue something to rest on while it drys.. then once dry, as the superglue doesnt stick to the tape. you just peel off
5 July 2012, 22:44
Sherif Sharmy
u r a genius............goooooooooooooooooood luck
5 July 2012, 22:48
Augie
*blush* sherif your too kind.. was luck..

6 July 2012, 17:22
Holger Kranich
Aha, so you just photoshopped the piccies?;)
Nö, you did a great job!
6 July 2012, 17:59
Augie
*giggles* Holly..the lack of finger prints from superglue bare testimant to the amount of saning the blade needed
6 July 2012, 19:00
Holger Kranich
As i said, augie, you really did a great job!
6 July 2012, 20:33
Augie
🙂 thanks holly...

6 July 2012, 23:46
Augie
Hey sherif, i allways have the same problems picking a kit
7 July 2012, 07:26
Holger Kranich
Hey Sherif, why not picking something in 1:35 and join the groupbuild?
7 July 2012, 12:11
Wilfried Bogaerts
Hey Sherif, why don't you update your stash so we all can see what you have and we'll do the choosing for you 😉
7 July 2012, 12:13
Augie
Hehe yeah do it sherif, its fun to see willies suggestions
7 July 2012, 13:58
Augie
Ok Guys.. I'm actually going to put the hueys on hold for a few days..

I'm gonna look at building somthing else first..
7 July 2012, 20:40
Augie
Oh Franks, thats mean teasing a girl...If i had one in the stash.. I would be sorely tempted.. but alas.. I will probably look at something 1:72.. just not sure yet..

But the F-100 in 1:48 is also tempting
7 July 2012, 21:58
Bill Gilman
Ah, 1:72 - the one true scale. 🙂
7 July 2012, 22:41
Sherif Sharmy
Ah...................a super sabre...................wow. Particularly if it is natural metal. Lots of colorful schemes.
