His Dudeness is much too self critical. I like this one very much.

Mr James
Agree with Neuling, far to self critical. I'd be pleased as punch to scratch build a dio like this. 🙂

Album info

Finally done. An old model I had stashed for 20 years. Yes thats right.
Blatant errors: Tracks are wrong model, it were the tracks I had stashed for 20years... Forgot to mask the area of removed side armor to have it in red primer as it should. Forgot to paint interior in black. Roadwheels were glued in place before painting... big mistake.

Minor errors and overall appraisal:
Weathering was fun, it looks very nice, chipping is a bit crude and tone is too dark. Some scratches are too wide. Friuld tracks were a pain to assemble (6 parts) and to put in place... Sprockets (friuld) were too large, tracked didnt pass where the armor is over the sprocket.
PE parts were overall straight forward... some are glued slightly out of place or CA glue is visible.
Mud application didnt go well... seems fake on the roadwheels. painting of mud also didnt go well.
Decals (with 20years) didnt connect very well with varnished surface... they flaked a bit when painting (it shows). Overall camo scheme is pure fiction. Also, should have gone to a more unsaturated colors for the camo.

Diorama (my first large Dio) didnt enjoyed working with styrofoam... yes its versatile but unforgiving... at least leaving it bare for paint is a mistake. I tried to researh what a european, (dutch or german sidewalk should be, didnt found anything...) I improvised. forgot to apply "mortar" to road and sidewalk joints... sidewalk painting is ugly and fake, it was done over the foam... foamy texture on the sidewalk and wall of house seems horrible. cobblestones seem very nice. Had issues applying the veneer (which came with some glue) over the foam. The roof of the building doesnt seem right (also reasearched a dutch 40's city roof but without success...) AK moss is terrible. too large fragments. seems fake it was a mistake. Dont use it.
Grass application was too shallow (few patches)... for a early spring, it should have been much more greener, fuller and with different sizes. Managed to save it with the painting and some leaf fragments to randomize.

Vehicle seems hovering the mud... its terrible... the sulk I made in the clay wasnt wide enough and the tracks werent sinking... managed to minimize with some mud to "connect" the tracks to the ground.
It deserves a figure but thats another championship im not willing to take right now...

Very happy to end this. Enjoyed a lot the painting and weathering of the ugly beast. Most technics were done for the first time... I dont model for 20years, since my teen years. Never tried such a Dio and 95% of these products and technics werent available then... Its all pretty great mostly.

Moving on to the SU 152 beast!
