I´m not quite that enthusiastic with my current 1:700 project and in need of something different to do in between.
So I assembled the hull of the 1:350 Mirage Flower Class corvette I recently obtained from a raffle, and am trying my hand at a livelier than usual seascape. The model will only be constructed once I have the new WEM PE set in hand, so making the seascape in advance is fine with me.
In my experience, the hull fit wasn´t too nice. Moreover, sprue attachment points were iffy to clear up. But on the whole it´s a nice hull and I´m looking forward to the PE set and the various options and possibilities for conversions.
The base is made from a piece of 40 mm foam board. A cutout for the hull was made using a bread knife. Same knife was used to produce the basic wave patterns, followed by work with a wire brush in a rotary tool.
The base´s surface was then coarsely sanded. Now I used generic acrylic filler from the hardware store to both smoothen and accentuate the base. Moreover, filler was applied to the cutout and the hull (wrapped in clingfilm) then placed on the base.
Now the filler is left to fully cure, I assume it´ll take a few days. Next thing will be to remove the hull (and hopefully most of the clingfilm, and then to correct the base prior to applying white wall paint to it. The acrylic filler can easily be trimmed with a blade, and also sanded.

Hi Frank,
schick, willst Du mit der Folie auch die Gischt darstellen oder ist sie nur zur Trennung des Modells vom Wasser?

Hi Stefan,

die ist nur zur Isolierung gedacht und mittlerweile schon zurückgetrimmt.
