The old Tamiya kit is of good quality (especially for its age) but has errors that I already discover - however, the PE sets and some scratchbuilding should produce a nice result. I am making the ship at the late war outfit, so the maximum number of AA guns will be installed. It should be fun...

I started work on the BIG ship. This is the old kit, so the assembly process is slow, as every step has to be double-checked against drawings and photos from the Yamato Museum. It is very enjoyable to work at it, after all, it is one of the most famous battleships of all time. Started work by detailing the funnel and the tower bridge, then applying anti-skid plating on the superstructure floors. (the new kit has this detail molded in, but I have to upgrade mine😉 )

Hey Aghis, my friend! I´m pleased to see that your work has started. Just like Christian, i´d like to see some pic´s of that impressive ship. I´ve seen the aftermarketstuff you´re gonna use, is going to offer you many many long evenings of work! You started an etch-battle! Crazyness crawls down my neck when i even think of all the AA-Gun´s! But i´m sure your Yamato will be dedicated with some goldmedal´s when the next ipms-competition starts! 🙂🙂🙂

I will post photos as soon as I have interesting assemblies to show. The PE sets are excellent, they really give a boost to the old kit. Some scratchbuilding is also required - stay tuned😉

Thank you guys. It is not a very difficult ship to build actually...I think. Just BIG with lots of balkonies, rails and of course...guns anf flak.
