Frank Krause
Hi all, just to confirm - we have a lift-off also on my Huey for the Vietnam group build. First parts left the sprues...
7 July 2012, 10:12
Augie
hey hey Frank, I'm considering building the UH-1C too..using the ace of spades decals.. what you think?
7 July 2012, 10:14
Frank Krause
Hi Augie, would be great. "Surfer Girl" and "Ace of Spades" - sister and brother together...😉
7 July 2012, 10:15
Augie
Cool, I might well re-stash the UH-1B... and focus on the UH-1C
7 July 2012, 10:17
Frank Krause
@Augie: Yepp, do so.

I'm having fun with the interior. The fit of the parts is really good so far. I had a fight with the choice of interior colour, because original photos show sometimes a pale grey, sometimes a blueish grey. So I made my choice as I always do - had a look at my Humbrolies, picked 2 and tried 'em out. I found my colour... Is it the original one? No idea, but it matches the photos I've got and I like it...😉

Augie
🙂 long as your happy with it frank then its good

Slow progress is better than no progress.😉 Some more pictures added!

Mike Kryza
Hi Frank - don't hurry - even slow progress will come to an end. Will be surely an interesting projekt...

Keep you in the eye , Mate!!
My Ontos is still waiting!

Dirk Heyer
Wish you a steady hand and endurance for this project! 🙂
Sadly scale 35 is not my passion wagon (I have not any kits in this scale), so I cannot participate here....
:/

@Dirk
Man,someone who can do such scratch and details like you do,dont need to apologise that he doesnt have a 1:35 kit! 🙂
8 July 2012, 20:26
Frank Krause
Only little progress on the interior. I started with a first layer of paint for the pilots' and gunner's seat and tried a bit on the instrument panels.

Difficult to find the right colour. As per instruction seats should be grey all over. I didn't like that and found original photos with some different colouring. Propably not the right ones for the heli I intend to build, but I don't care.

Wilfried Bogaerts
Keep goin' Frank, you rock ! 😉

Holger Kranich
Hey Frank, what an exeptional progress for an exeptional modeller😢! Your pix are the reason why im sitting at the bench, first time this weekend!🙂
15 July 2012, 18:03
Mike Kryza
I'm always fascinated in your progress using only brushes!
15 July 2012, 18:16
Frank Krause
@Wilfried, Philip: Thanks guys! I'll do my best not to disappoint you!
@Holger: Good to know that your project is also in progress. I'll enjoy NAVY CIS now until the paint has dried. Then the seat belts should receive some paint. May be I can assemble the seats tonight. No rush - still time till December...
@Mike: Thanks! As long as small parts are involved it's not a big deal, but when huge areas have to be painted, it becomes difficult to get a clean result. Ask Augie...! She knows about the difficulties and masters them very well!
15 July 2012, 18:29
Holger Kranich
Frank, one question please, are you still building at the bench, you posted at MV?
Enjoy tv with your beloved!🙂
15 July 2012, 18:56
Frank Krause
Commercial break - yes Holger, still the same bench...!
15 July 2012, 18:58
Mike Kryza
Frank - sometimes I believe I have forgotten how to use a brush. But painting large areas was easier with enamels than by acrylics.
Btw - your the "King Of The Brush" and Augie is the "Queen".
15 July 2012, 19:00
Frank Krause
@Mike: Don't tell my wife...😉
15 July 2012, 19:02
Holger Kranich
Haha lol!🙂
15 July 2012, 19:18
Mike Kryza
You're a "German King" and she is a "British Queen" - it's no problem at all 😉 🙂 :-D
15 July 2012, 19:33
Augie
LOL oh my god guys...
Frank, thank you for your comments on my brush work...comming from someone with your skill in brush painting... its a huge honour..

as for us being king and queen... Mike bad boy😉 you'll get him in toroube with his wife.. and my in trouble with my beloved..
15 July 2012, 19:40
Mike Kryza
This was not my intention! - Believe me (or not??) - 😉🙂:-D
15 July 2012, 19:52
Augie
heheh i know mike 🙂.. and I'm sure in modeling Frank can be the King of Brushing... I dont think i am fit as queen
15 July 2012, 19:57
Holger Kranich
King of brushing even means something else in german, as far as i know🙂🙂😢!
15 July 2012, 20:06
Frank Krause
@Holger:😉 I did not want to mention... Got to ask my wife...😉
15 July 2012, 20:09
Augie
LOL... shall we settle for Master of Brushing then?
15 July 2012, 20:26
Mike Kryza
I'm innocent - my second name is "The Saint" :-D
@Holger - You know the saying: Ein Schelm wer Böses dabei denkt.
16 July 2012, 17:49
Holger Kranich
Oh yeah, Mike! Ein Schelm...😎
17 July 2012, 06:07
Christian Meyerhoff
Hi Frank looking good so far. Started mine too.
17 July 2012, 17:37
Frank Krause
Thanks Christian! This will be fun modelling together... 🙂
17 July 2012, 17:59
Frank Krause
WIP - test fitting of interior like seats, instrument panel etc. I will have to cut off the location pins of the pilots' seats, because they don't fit exactly into the holes on the floor. The holes for the controlsticks must also be drilled out. They'e too small.

I will have to spend more time on painting the instrument panel, before I can assemble the inertior.
21 July 2012, 12:54
Wilfried Bogaerts
Nice work Frank, I'll drink to that, Kampai !
21 July 2012, 13:07
Frank Krause
Puuh, the scales and buttons of the instrument panel are quite difficult to paint... even with magnifying glasses... 🙁
21 July 2012, 16:50
Augie
i knoe you'll manage frank, just take time 🙂
21 July 2012, 16:52
Holger Kranich
Augie is right! You'll manage it!!!
21 July 2012, 23:15
Frank Krause
Worked a bit more on the instrument panel, control sticks and seats. The floor and the rear wall got a wash with dark grey, the engine bay way painted in interior green, even later noone will see it...
22 July 2012, 22:27
Augie
🙂 i'm likeing it so far frank
22 July 2012, 23:10

@Markus: Ich habe keine Ährbrasch... Alles gepinselt...
24 July 2012, 17:22
Markus Kutsch The Plastic Bench

24 July 2012, 17:30
Markus Kutsch The Plastic Bench

Some small progress. The instrument panel is done so far. So is the overhead panel. I started with the assembly of the turbine. Altogether only 8 parts, but I had to fill some pin marks. Also the fit isn't perfect. I need to cut off the locator pins.
29 July 2012, 21:40
Christian Meyerhoff
Looks great so far! Any additional details on the turbine planned?
30 July 2012, 05:31
Frank Krause
Hi Christian, thanks! No additional details on the turbine planned. There are too many parts missing (see attached photo). It would take me ages to complete it. I will stick to OOTB.

The crew will be on board ready for action and the engine covers will be closed. I will use the turbine a testbed for my painting skills.

Holger Kranich
Its coming nice together, Frank! Move on, you are doing great!😢
30 July 2012, 06:51
Frank Krause
Finally some small progress on the turbine. 2 pics added. The fit issue of the turbine halves took some time, so that I just painted the basic colours. Once the enamels are dried, I will add some shading and washing...

Thanks for the motivation to continue, Christian...😉

Philip De Keyser
Hi Frank, the cockpit looks great, nice details on the intruments and pannels, looking forward to the next pictures, greetz Phil
24 September 2012, 06:01
Markus Kutsch The Plastic Bench
I can only agree with ,Phil.Looking forward for more.
24 September 2012, 06:08
Christian Meyerhoff
It´s good to see that you continue this one. Will the engine bay be open or close? If you decide to close it no more work on the turbine will be necessary because You don`t see anything.
24 September 2012, 06:25
Holger Kranich
Good to see some progress. I have to say that i was very lazy, the last weeks but i´m going to work more on the groupbuild! Great work Frank, its coming nicely together!😢

Hi Frank, perfect job! May the brush be with you!
24 September 2012, 15:03
Christian Meyerhoff
Hi Holger! Any idea for the water your boat will swim in? I only ask cause I plan to do a beach dio with my huey and a patrol which looks for the ultimate proof that "Charlie" surfs too. 🙂
24 September 2012, 19:01
Holger Kranich
Yes Christian , i have some ideas in that direction but im still Not sure... Got myself the dio- water from Noch!

Huey is back! Parts for the pilots are cleaned up and the control stick for the pilot on the right is repainted. I also modified the gun sight a bit to come the original at least a little bit closer. Check out the last 2 pics of this album.

Wow Frank thats a very cool pit and sight!

31 May 2013, 11:02

Was uns nicht killt, macht uns härter!😎

Tried to add some target lines on the gun sight glass, but... shakings hands spoiled the result. Without macro it looks ok.
2 June 2013, 09:49
Steve Wilson
Frank!!!
Great idea with the cross hairs.
Try scoring the glass with a straight edge and sharp implement, then go over the lines with a black marker pen or such, even a black paint and wipe clean...
2 June 2013, 10:27
Dirk Heyer
I will take a seat and watching your amazing "Teppichklopfer" project! But isn`t it the project started last year?
I`m not sure but I have a deja vu looking on the pic`s??
2 June 2013, 11:03
Frank Krause
Started, put on hold, now back on the bench, Dirk!

Replaced the holder for the second gun-sight by Evergreen sheets. The original part was too big and would have covered instrument gauges partly.

Jetzt wird er aber ganz genau...🙂
12 June 2013, 21:43
