2D-Adversaries: Paramilitary (1993-2001)

Paramilitary groups had been a major problem for the US before my time in service, particularly in Iran, Lebanon, and Latin America. This only intensified during my time on active duty military service in the 1990s. The collapse of the Soviet Union and the US defeat of Iraq in the Gulf War left power vacuums throughout the world that were filled by warlords, cartels, and terrorists.

This collection represents three paramilitary factions that engaged in open conflict with US forces during my time in service.

- Hawiye Clan insurgents (Somalia)
- Drug Cartels (Venezuela, Columbia, Ecuador, Peru)
- Islamic Jihadi Terrorists (Afghanistan - al-Qaeda, Egyptian Islamic Jihad, Algerian Armed Islamic Group, Harkat Ansar, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen
