Leopard 1a5

Album image #1
I started by separating and cleaning up the track parts

Album image #2
To make it easier I put the parts into separate tubs

Album image #3
The tracks were great when complete

Album image #4
But NO! when I had them complete and painted I applied a wash, again happy days, but when they had dried out and I went to fit the just disintegrated. I ended up fixing them dozens of times with superglue. I think the track wash may have melted the plastic inside. Anyone else ever have this problem?

1st time to use Barracuda netting. The canvas mats are just and old hanky mounted onto a toothpick.
I seen some photos of leopard tanks with this sort of canvas on the front. Not sure what its for, so anyone know please let me know.

Damn, so I'd rather not wash anything, I'll spray paint right on the tracks.

Hi David, on Michael Shackleton's Leopard website (Leopardclub.ca) are a couple of reviews and they mention harsh washes eating into the tracks. When I build mine, I will go with Flory's water based washes instead. Those rags in the front are intended to break up the harsh shadows under the glacis that could give away a tank's position in a hideout. Hope that helped.

Cheers Karel, Rui & Patrick.
Karel, I did prime them and painted them Tamiya Dark Earth 1st them glossed the them prior to using the AK Track Wash. It could be something I did mixing media.
Patrick, I used AK Enamel Track Wash. 1st time it acted like that (if indeed it was the wash). I have the Meng 2a7 I will not take the chance when I build it. I will check out the website and thank you for the clarification on the rags.
