Thanks Jos & Augie. 🙂
It's probably a little too clean as the panel lines were very shallow and I was a bit too heavy handed with the paint so the panel wash didn't want to stay put after cleaning it up. I also think the finish is too flat, rather than satin. I'd like to get the Hasegawa kit and have another go at this subject as it's a cool looking aircraft I reakon.

Thanks Roland 🙂
@ Jos - It was an enjoyable build, and the fit was very good. You also get plenty of ordinance to load it up with. I had originally intended to put the bombs on the inner pylons and additionally, load 3x Mavericks on both middle pylons and have the external tanks on the outside... but figured it would probably be unrealistic for carrier ops and wouldn't have made it off the flight deck carrying that much weight😉
You also have the option to display the avionics bays on both sides opened, and they are fully detailed inside.
As I noted in the album description, the kit does have a couple of issues. The first being the shape of the air intake. It should be deeper and more rounded rather than its current oval shape, so the Hasegawa kit looks better in this regard. The ejection seat is pretty basic and could do with replacing as it doesn't include ejection handles or harnesses etc. The rest of the cockpit interior, while also fairly basic is adequate enough given how little of it you can see once it's closed up. The main canopy also had a molding seam line running down the center of it; but was easily removed with some very light sanding and polishing and only took 10 mins or so.
Also missing are the two pitot tubes on the nose. (I didn't trust myself to scratch together my own and not make a mess of the paint work in the process)
Lastly, the engraved panel lines were very shallow... and being heavy handed with the airbrush applying the different layers of paint, didn't take a lot of effort on my part to partially flood them in places which hindered the application of a panel line wash considerably... but this admittedly was my own fault. 😳
But, all up... it's a pretty good kit that's very reasonably priced, and probably worth it just for the ordinance and targeting pods alone which consists of...
2x Fuel Tanks
1 x FLIR pod
12 x Mk.82 Bombs
12 x Mk.20 Cluster Bombs
6 x AGM-65 Mavericks (single or triple mounting)
2 x AIM-9L Sidewinders
2 x GBU-10 Paveway II Bombs
Thanks Roland 🙂

James, a flawless build, viewed from my side. The details, paints and decals are son nice that in another background set, as on a carrier, one wouldn't belive it is a scale model

This was quite a nice kit to build, but does have a few issues...
Most notably, is the lack of pitot tubes on the upper nose as well as the mouth of the prominent intake being too oval shaped.
I also found that the engraved panel lines were very shallow, and being heavy handed with primer, paint and clear coats almost obliterated them with paint, making it difficult to pick them out again with a panel line wash. The finish also looks too matt and I would have preferred a more satin finish, but valuable lessons were learned for the next one. Completed March 2020
