Augie
Yea... dangerous when you start looking at a kit.. next thing you know bits are going together.
3 May 2020, 23:25
Augie
Its a real simple kit.. hardest part was the metal work lol
13 May 2020, 17:02
Nathan Dempsey
Geez Augie that looks nice! I almost missed the build completely. That must be a monster of a kit as I thought the 1:48 one was big.
13 May 2020, 17:20
Augie
Thanks Nathan, its a big kit.. minimal parts.. so quick build really.. the paint has been the longest part so far
13 May 2020, 17:22
Augie
And decals started..
13 May 2020, 21:12
Augie
So decals are about done.. just need to finish the bang seat and canopy..
16 May 2020, 17:38

16 May 2020, 18:27
Augie
Thanks Nathan 🙂 Its not bad, no decal solution needed either which is a supprise.
16 May 2020, 18:33
Bernhard Schrock
Augie: how magic did you use to produce the excellent alu finish?
16 May 2020, 19:08
Spanjaard
Looking amazing. The hairy stick master making a NMF worth of her magic....
16 May 2020, 19:31
Jérôme Chapelle

Maciej Bellos
Brushedsilvermagic! Great looking Lightning!
16 May 2020, 19:55
Augie
Oh wow, thank you guys I'm blushing!! 🙂

@Bernhard, the Alu is actually done using a wax based gilt called treasure silver (Now called treasure gold silver). I use it for all my NMF / Alu /Silver finishes.

Clifford Keesler

Ah how did I miss this ! .. can't believe you did that with a hairy stick !! .. it's so smooth ! 🙂
great technique required to pull that off over such a large area, hats off Augie 🙂
18 May 2020, 21:19
Olivier
Ha ha NMF... I had to look it up in the dictionary.
18 May 2020, 21:25
Augie
Thanks Choppa, with the right materials and some patience, its easy enough.

Olivier, glad you found it.. 🙂 surprised tho, fairly common in modelling circles I'd of thought.
18 May 2020, 22:29
Choppa Nutta
Easy enough for you Augie😉
Weirdly my brother Stu took to it like a duck to water, I still kind of strugle with larger areas . . . .
Anyhoooo......

I thought NMF was a "Bart Simpsonism" ..... Not My Fault !! 😄 😄 😄
19 May 2020, 00:29
Clifford Keesler
It's going to be a real stunner Augie, there is no doubt about that.

Nice office there. No surprise. 🙂
22 May 2020, 01:31

Augie

22 May 2020, 18:00
Donald Dickson II
Well, if you count what I did back in the 70s and 80s, then another 50 or so. But those all are long gone. And included planes, cars, trucks, sci fi. All of which I have, just havent built any. LOL

Slavo Hazucha
Wow - missed the build, but at least managed to see the final pics... Lovely work, all the details on the surface, the colorful decals - very cool. Also the position lights really sit & fit in the wings like on the real plane, nice job! Must be quite a handful on the table too 🙂
1 June 2020, 10:07
Augie
Thanks Slavo 🙂 its a bit of a handful.. but worth the effort.
1 June 2020, 13:29

thanks Jim 🙂

Clifford Keesler
Augie is the Master of NMF finishes with the ole hairy stick. I would love to know how she does it. I can not get even close to her, even with a darn airbrush. I have even tried the AK True metal colors in the tubes and still can't get it. Don't know. LOL.
2 June 2020, 02:25
Augie
Hehe I've said the trick a number of times. Treasure silver which is a wax guilt applied with a soft flat brush like your waxing a car 🙂 works a treat
2 June 2020, 07:47
Clifford Keesler
I will have to see if I can find some of that.
2 June 2020, 15:12
Daniel
Interesting, I suppose it is very touch-sensitive?
2 June 2020, 20:07
Augie
I give it a coat of future of two, seems to wear well. been using it for years
2 June 2020, 20:31
Olivier
Well it seems to be available in the UK only. At least for the time being.
2 June 2020, 22:19
Clifford Keesler
That figures. LOL.
