Hawk Model Airplanes was established in 1928 by brothers Dick (Sr.) and Phil Mates in Chicago, Illinois. Promoted as "America's Oldest Model Company", the company was purchased by the Testors Corporation in 1970.The Hawk Company assets were later acquired by J. Lloyd International, Inc. of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, which, in turn, sold them to Round2 LLC of South Bend, Indiana in 2013.

Weird-Ohs came out in 1962 and first debuted in 1963 at the Chicago Hobby Convention. I ran into a guy at the Model Train Show that claimed he was selling original Weird-Oh models and that the ones I had were repops. I told him it 1) wasn't worth the extra money and 2) I liked my new decals. No sale! I'm not sure about their collectability value I bought several at about $10 each. I have two and donated the rest to the Wright Field Scale Modelers for their meeting raffles. I don't know if any of the guys that one them ever built them. Timothy you should try to pick one up at a local IPMS show or on eBay!

Timothy don't forget that there were not only models but music and poetry! This was a 1964 promotional release for the Hawk model company, geared to the release of a line of Weird-Oh plastic model kit characters. Separate, expanded LPs of the Silly Surfers side ("The Sounds Of The Silly Surfers") and the Weird-Ohs side ("The Sounds Of The Weird-Ohs") were released later in the year on the Mercury label, under those same titles. discogs.com/Silly-Su..s-By/release/5051673

Robert I have been "hiding" as we moved last Summer and it has taken me a while to get back to building. I have also been building craftsman model locomotive kits in G gage 1:22.5 scale and HO gage 1:87.1 scale. To get me back in the mood I pulled out some of my silliest models and built the garage truck surf hot rod and Endsville Eddie. I'm going to work on some construction and farm equipment next.
