So, this is my first attempt at "home made" Zimmerit. It's not perfect but it's a learning curve. It looks better after a coat of primer 🙂

Nice Zimmert. What did you use for it?

Cheers guys 🙂 I used Revell's PLASTO filler with Trumpeter's Zimmerit tools to create the pattern. It is difficult to get an even thickness. I have seen a YT video, since, that used "No Nails" this looks much easier to get an even thickness, you can work it with a wet finger, I will use this on my next project.

After priming she has had a coat of RAL 7028.

Somehow the interesting stuff in my newsfeed is always halfway through when it gets there...😉

The zimmerit looks quite nice with the basecoat on! Especially considering you used the Revell putty. Might be me, but I find the stuff to be a bit tricky at times😄
The preshading and flaked-off bits showing primer look superb.
Cheers

I've never done a custom Zimmerit-coating before and use the filler only as filler (surprise🙂 ). Even then i find it a bit hard to get a nice even coat with it. Slowly switching to milliput for larger jobs, although it is messy.

The camo looks good, nice work with the airbrush!

Progress continues with the building of the Fruill tracks with paint applied. Just some weathering needed and this pup is done!

Your approach on finishing the tracks sounds simple.
But the result looks great! Home stretch is near 🙂

Well FINALLY its finished!!! Not quite sure why it took so long but it found its way into a dusty corner 🙁 The Zim didn't turn out to bad but I would not use putty again! It wasn't until I put it on the shelf next to a Panther that you see how big an Elephant is! As usual, all comments welcome 🙂

Album info

The Elefant (German for "elephant" ) was a heavy tank destroyer used by German Wehrmacht Panzerjäger during World War II. It was built in small numbers in 1943 under the name Ferdinand, after its designer Ferdinand Porsche, using tank hulls that had been produced for the Tiger I tank requirement, which was rejected in favour of a Henschel design.

In 1944, after modification of the existing vehicles, they were renamed Elefant. The official German designation was Panzerjäger Tiger (P) and the ordnance inventory designation was Sd. Kfz. 184.
