Nice start. I made one of the Aoshima boxings 20 something years ago. (same kit) Comes together nicely But nothing beats the HOT TOYS 1/6 scale pre-built one! (it's in one of my albums on here) It lights up all around only wish it had sound too! 🙂

Peter Schmitt
@Glenn thanks 🙂

Yeah, the kit is quite good for its age, comes together nicely. I find the parts exceptionally crisp, almost no flash at all.

That 1/6 scale thing.. wow, I saw it in your profile.. That thing is awesome. But I like my little DeLorean, especially since I got it together with Biff's Ford (see Biff Tannen's car | Project by pope1701 (1:25) ).

I took a peak at your stash though, you've got some really cool stuff in there 😄

Glenn
Thanks Peter! Along with the DeLorean i also have a 1/6 scale figure of Marty that is an exact image of Michael J Fox with real fabric clothes of very high quality! You should see the size of the box the car comes in! Yea the stash is the result of 30 years of collecting! Gonna take even longer to finish all these models too! At the rate i get things done! 🙂

Peter Schmitt
I can imagine. Do you display it somehow? Or is it an in-the-box-collectible?
21 October 2016, 14:04
Glenn
Yep i got one of those 48' Fords somewhere too! Ex IMC kit i think? Glad to see you did yours in "before" the accident scheme! 🙂
21 October 2016, 14:04
Peter Schmitt
Exactly, ex-IMC. The oldest kit I ever had (or even saw). But astonishingly good quality for being about 50 years old.

I had to do it before the "accident". Biff is a douche, but in one he is right, that car is an absolute classic and I think everyone wept for the car when he hit the manure mobile, not for biff.

I wish i had a cabinet big enough to put it in but it would cost me half of what the model cost to buy the cabinet! model retails for around $1000Aud the figure of Marty was around $330Aud too i think! $$$$$ arh............. Oh well they look great. I have to take a photo of the glass IKEA cabinet i have the figures in and add that to the folder. So the car sits in it's shipping box! sad...

Peter Schmitt
Wow, that's some dough. Yah, I'd love to see those figures too 😄

But I know that display problem. I have a flying fortress that doesn't fit in any of my cabinets, so it sits on top of a shelf and is sadly collecting a lot of dust. Biggest problem of our hobby I think 😄
21 October 2016, 14:21
Glenn
True Dat! The dust problem! I will see about adding some more photos over the weekend of the cabinet with my 1/6 scale figures. It looks great lit up next to my workbench. Take a look at Hot Toys / Sideshow Figures website and you'll see some amazing sci-fi figures! I have a collection of old school Star Wars figures they do in 1/6 scale! Chewbacca and Han Solo look real!
21 October 2016, 14:27
Peter Schmitt
I will!

I'm about to build a 1/72 Concorde.. about 1m long. I think it will collect some camouflage dust as soon as its out of the box. xD

Glenn
I have the Airfix one and a set of resin wheels to replace the tyres you get in the kit. Yes not sure where it will go either? I just added a photo of Han and Chewbacca into the folder where you saw the DeLorean check it out. The fur of Chewbacca is fantastic!
21 October 2016, 14:35
Peter Schmitt
Already saw it, yes, they are stunning! I would run out of space with those figures so freaking fast, though

I have the Revell one, its a rebox of the airfix. I'd love to have the PE-parts for it, but I can't seem to find them anywhere... The wheels are still available, but I think I'll build it gear up. I also got some cockpit masks for it. Worth it, I think, it has about 12 oddly shaped windows there...
21 October 2016, 14:39
Glenn
What scheme will you do it in? My 1/72 scale one will be done in BA's last color scheme. I have another 1/144 Revell kit and was thinking of doing the "PEPSI" blue Air France bird for something different. I haven't seen the PE-parts but don't think you'll need them it looks great finished. I've seen a couple of them. In fact i think there's one in the Model EXPO folders i have in the Albums i have on here.
21 October 2016, 14:45
Peter Schmitt
I'll do BA's last scheme too, I just like that red stripe.
Yeah, it will look good without them, but in that huge scale for an airliner (and a Concorde at that) it is an invitation to do some detailing. Well, I think they are out of production, so yeah.

"PEPSI" was a nice livery for it, the blue fits. I'd like to do some fantasy liveries for it, like PanAm or Lufthansa, maybe butcher another kit's decal patch. But those are dreams, I want to build the other stuff of my stash first. It needs to shrink 😄

Glenn
Peter my folder from Model EXPO 2014 shows a Airfix Concorde finished. "Draw Decals" in the US do some what if marking for the Concorde i think? Lufthansa would be good i think. Anyway nice chatting it's 2am here now! Gotta go to bed, Chat anytime cheers mate!

i may add some lights too when i build mine.

Thanks!

No I haven't seen his, thanks for the links. It looks amazing. If mine looked like that I'd be happy, let's see.

The kit I use would be very good to add lights, a lot of nooks and crannies to hide wires. Comes together extremely well too, no flash, excellent fit. But do your research on colors, there the manual is Crap. Fyi: mig steel is the perfect color for the body.

That's a great start, count me in!
And taking a seat in the "real" BTTF DeLorean, that must have been a great experience 🙂

It was absolutely awesome. It was a traveling display in Speyer's museum of technology in Germany and there were the delorean, space shuttle buran and a real ju52 in the same room.

glad you like those links. glad to help 🙂

Delorean, Buran and tante Ju? wow, what a room.....

Album info

I added a little bit of copper wiring to the interior of the DeLorean to make it more detailed. The Flux Capacitor also got a little bit tuned. The rest is out of the box.
