Very, very nice! Well done. An eye-catcher.

Thank you all!
@James: I think that with transparent material you would have to use bigger diameters. This is 3mm brass tube and very sturdy. A plastic peace of the same size would be very flexible. But that is always the question... how to depict a flying plane....

Klasse Lackierung, klasse gebaut und das Stäbchen kann man ja in Photoshop wegtippexen😉 👍

Wonderful Viper, Ingmar!👍
For in flight presentation I can recommend magnets and filament.😉

Tank you mates!
@ulf: Does this work with 1/72 scale planes and 10cm "flight level"?

Very nice.

Well...with stronger magnets (Neodymium) who knows...
Glue a mockup model together and start experimenting!😉
You did not comment on my magnetic hovering F/A-18, have you seen it?
Perhaps the way Revell realized their hovering models can be copied even for larger scales. I can send you a scan of the construction manual if you like.

Well, I saw this one at Wangerooge and we had some discussion about panel lines. In my opinion they are very well done as the rest of this beauty. 👍

Looking awesome!!! How was the build?

@ulf: I had a look into your album. Looks cool. We use a lot of Magnets at work. So I'll experiment a bit, but likely it will need bigger magnets. Still a bit sceptic about the weight of the 72scale model and even more about the distance between model and stand. This will be bigger for 72scale than for 144scale. And the magnetic force will decrease with 1/distance^2 so an even bigger magnet will be required....
@dave: build went very well. Fit was almost perfect. The surface details are breathtaking.

Ingmar, that's why I recommended Neodymium magnets. They 8x the force of the simple ferro magnets Revell used for their hover models. I guess 4 little Neodyms placed in the corners of the model and a similar base magnet like on my display should do.

Hi! congratulations! realy nice result! I love the weathering efect! and the basis! you had bought the full equiped one and you built it almost empty? I will build one of this also, don´t you want to sell to me the spares? 🙂

@ulf: Hm. I will make some Experiments. Still have a (cheap) second F-16 with which I made some test with the base and stand....
@Cesar: when I bought it I did not really think about how to show it. I just went with the kit with more options. In the end I decided to show her as in the pictures I found on the web of exactly this plane. Normally I would happily give away those spares. But I'm still thinking about building a second one with some GBUs under the wings. So I might need those parts. But on the other hand I'd first have to get hold of some suitable decals. So what exactly would you need of the parts?

Hi, thanks for the answer! I perfectly understand you, I will build aggressors, I have the two bob's decals for 2 machines, the tamiya f-16 (the first one clean) and the revell one, the second I bought to take the tanks and pylons but it have lots of sink marks, I intend to fit the centerline sensor pod in one machine with side fuel tanks and in the other just the center thank... I think i will get the squadron resin set for them... 🙂

Thanks Guido! I used the paints straight from the bottle. But I sprayed some highlights on the panels. Therefore I mixed a bit of MIG211 into MIG204. So this areas might look a bit lighter than with plain MIG204. But then again the dark wash may have toned it down a bit. To me it looks just right. I tested quit some MIG and Vallejo colors and compared them side by side. This is the combination that I liked most.
I really like this kit. I got myself another one plus some aftermarket smart bombs and decals. I think those "green" bombs will look fantastic on this jet. I'm not sure if I can get it 100% correct from this Tamiya kit but I can live with 95% 😉

Album info

Build this one during 4th Scalemates Meeting Wangerooge in Feb. 2016.
The Tamiya kit hat stunning detail. Extremely fine panel lines and rivets. Due to the complex form of the F-16 the fuselage is broken down in many peaces but they all fit extremely well. I decided to depict the F-16 in flight, which turned out very well. Painting was done with MIG204 ( FS36118 ) and MIG211 ( FS36270 ). Only downside are the decals. Those are plenty, but rather thick.
