9 January 2015, 19:45

10 January 2015, 22:35
Augie
After a bit iof strip down and repaint.. the basics are down on it.. so now to tidy up and make it good..
10 January 2015, 22:36
Clifford Keesler
Looking good Augie, I guess I'm slower than you now. LOL. Haven't finished anything in almost 3 months. I have my Hasegawa A-7E almost finished. I will try and get some pictures up soon.
15 January 2015, 23:43
Clifford Keesler
I see you went with a resin pit, I used the kit one, with photo-etch and a resin seat. I did not notice that the photo-etch set did not include side consoles, until I had sanded all of the raised detail away. So I had to rob some side consoles from one of my F-4 sets. LOL. It came out all right.
15 January 2015, 23:48
Augie
Lol 🙂

well I think i am slow too.. the resin pit is because it came with the kit.. i bought it from a friend on here 😄
16 January 2015, 00:01
Soeren R.
Count me in! Always interesting to see another SLUF build 🙂
16 January 2015, 05:31
Holger Kranich
The instrument panel looks absolutely awesome, Augie! A gem of a masterpiece! 😄
16 January 2015, 10:33
Holger Kranich
Is it an Aires pit?
16 January 2015, 10:33
Augie
Thanks Guys 🙂

Holly, it is indeed the Aires pit.. not bad.. had to crack part of it tho to fit it in.. and a lot of sanding needed
16 January 2015, 18:00
Aghis Barberopoulos
Very nice going Augie, off to a great start!
16 January 2015, 18:26
Mike Kryza

26 January 2015, 22:23
Choppa Nutta
shaping up nicely Augie, especially the dashboard 👍 🙂
26 January 2015, 22:29
Augie
yeah bang seat I wish had molded on straps.. i hate p/e straps
26 January 2015, 22:30
Choppa Nutta
really ? why ?
I much prefer the PE ones if I am honest, although some of the resins look great too 🙂
26 January 2015, 22:47
Augie
I find I can make the molded ones look better.. i dunno just something fake looking about the p/e ones
26 January 2015, 22:49
Choppa Nutta
I guess I know what you mean, I suppose they can look a little too clean, the fabric ones look best I think.
but with a little wash and perhaps even a little painting etc. I quite like the sharpness of them and that the buckles look separate from the seats etc.
anyhow, different strokes for different folks and all that 🙂
26 January 2015, 22:54
Murad ÖZER
from my pov the pe seatbelts has only one drawback, being rigid (it's metal afterall) they just don't *want* to conform to the contours of the seat below them. i haven't tried tempering them before shaping but i doubt even that would help the problem since they don't have enough weight to make themselves sink anyway...
26 January 2015, 23:31
Choppa Nutta
true, it does take a bit of effort to make them look natural and weighted, giving them a few twists back and forth helps as well as a bit of preshaping before you glue them etc.
I must confess I've seen a few resin seats that are quite tempting to get because all of that shaping is already done for you 🙂
26 January 2015, 23:36
Clifford Keesler
Looking very nice Augie.
27 January 2015, 19:34
Dave Flitton
Eduard came out with those fabric seats. I wonder how those will look
27 January 2015, 20:10
Dave Flitton
I meant seat belts
27 January 2015, 20:11
Augie

27 January 2015, 21:51
Augie
thanks Bill, just done fuesleage
27 January 2015, 23:44
Augie
So yeah.. some seams had to be split to pad out for the wings to fit.

Once they fettled in will get more pictures on
8 February 2015, 13:21
Clifford Keesler
Hang in there Augie,It will get there. I didn't think I would ever get mine finished.I prefer the molded resin straps myself, but must say the PE ones were very easy to work with and turned out nice.
8 February 2015, 16:59
Augie
hehe yeah.. the wing join is done... wasnt as bad as I thought.

the rest is go go go

Acki
Comes nicely together. Beautifull bird.
12 February 2015, 20:29
Augie
Thanks Guys 🙂

Michael, spot on with that join..I padded it slightly to make the shoulders wider then it was very little that needed to be removed.

the back end was about the same.. just no padding needed.
12 February 2015, 20:40
Augie
Yeah aint that the truth.. I think i had to rescribe like 4 panel lines with this way.. far better than I expected..
12 February 2015, 22:02
Clifford Keesler
Great job Augie.

13 February 2015, 20:18
Augie
Lol the only monster I have been inflicted with is the clumsy fingers that break things...

13 February 2015, 20:20
Adie Roberts
Bloody Carpet monster visits me way to much
13 February 2015, 20:31

If you ever ruin a kit beyond redemption for any reason at the very least it makes for a good test bed for new techniques you might want to experiment with etc.

or... one could make it into a derelict or a crashed example for some mini diorama fun etc.
(or a bit of "Scratch'n'Bash"😉 )
