Phil MarcheseI started this newsfeed in the hope of generating a discussion on the role of Palmer's 29 cent 1:32 scale cars on the industry. That Palmer was a driving force early on is a known. Just how Palmer and Pyro spread their early advances and tools is less well defined.

Phil Marchese"Pyro developed license agreements with other model and toy companies beginning in the late 1950s, loaning out some of its molds, while, in turn, reboxing kits by other manufacturers under the Pyro label. (This is a common practice among model makers, even today.) A partial list of companies sharing molds with Pyro include: Life-Like, Linonel Trains, Eagle, Impact, Otaki, and Palmer Plastics (which Pyro acquired in 1970)." * Pyro History. Note exchange relationship were in either or both directions and were common in the industry. Note also the timeframe. With the Palmer kits originally listed at 29 cents the possibility of these being early issues is strong.

There is maybe a dozen or more cars that originated with Palmer that moved to Pyro who added more. Many traveled to Life Like and exists today at Lindberg. Monogram and Aurora had some extremely similar offerings in the street rod and 1960s GT open/ coupe genre'. I can't say if the molds transfered; the timeline seems to suggest these were copies, not transfers. That was common even in the 1956 - 1964 era. The common parts look nearly identical.
