Nice scheme you've chosen! You really like those old Monogram kits! I remember building the Hasegawa 1:32 kit in similar markings, but that was many moons ago!

Augie
Thanks Steve 🙂 hopefully it will have me purring 😉

@Bill, Yeah..i cant deny it I have taken a real likeing of the old monogram kits..Managed to accumilate 17 of them already.. and am looking out for more lol

As for the kit, well this one is special to me.. sitting in the cockpit of 74-1535 at the tender age of 4 left an impression on me, not soon after i stopped playing with barbies and asked Dad to show me modeling..

Augie
Good ol'e Grape.. tho the dark blue i have doubts on
27 September 2014, 20:07
Choppa Nutta
dark blue a bit to colourful perhaps ? a sludge wash of grey will tame it, still though it looks the part 🙂
27 September 2014, 20:13
Augie
thanks coppa, will see how it goes.. thank god i got spare decals.. if this goes wrong. I can get the ARC one
27 September 2014, 21:48
Choppa Nutta
I do enjoy your mis spellings of my name 😄
yeah having spares is always good, options options options 🙂

Augie
Ha.. blame the dyslexia 😛
27 September 2014, 22:46
Choppa Nutta
haha, not when you can spell dyslexia correctly 😉
still though, whatever the cause it is amusing 😄
and anyhow every person I know who has dyslexia seems to be very talented and by the judging of your models you are no exception 🙂

Lol we're talking about the kit.... slight paint concerns

Choppa Nutta
Lol Evets, na troffe ot etirw ni hcus na detareggaxe cixelsyd noihsaf, Ovarb ! Ovarb ! yrev gnisuma 😄

to be fair though, in the latest photo that blue doesn't look too saturated at all, a grey/brown sludge wash will see the colours settled nicely, and once again very smooth brush painting, what paints do you use Augie ?
28 September 2014, 22:46
Augie
lol Christ guys backwards is hard to read for me... behave lol..

Choppa, I use mainly humbrol enamels.. tho the grey on this one is from an old can of Airfix M2

the Missiles were under coated with Humbrol 28 then which was revell Aqua colour white and the blue is game workshop enchanted blue..

So I use what I think fits best..generally
28 September 2014, 23:20
Choppa Nutta
yrros 😄

yeah I like to work with what feels about right too, I've heard that Revell Aqua is nice to work with

Great job!

Glenn
Looks great Augie, The finish looks airbrushed from the photos! 🙂
4 October 2014, 23:12
Choppa Nutta
I have too agree with Glenn on this one 🙂
although the weathering is a touch too subtle for my tastes, especially on the back end.
But perhaps I aint the best person in this regard as my last model looks like I've dug out the flower bed 😄
4 October 2014, 23:18
Augie
Thanks Guys 🙂

Glenn, its all brush painted 🙂

Choppa, they were reasonably well kept so weathering is minimal on them.. Using a black colouring pencil for the panel lines.. works nicly on raised lines.
4 October 2014, 23:41
Choppa Nutta
ah neat trick !! I like that one 🙂
I was thinking more the exhausts really as they look super shiny but like you say they were well looked after 🙂
4 October 2014, 23:59
Clifford Keesler
Nice.
5 October 2014, 15:48
Holger Kranich
Oh yeah yummie work, Augie!!! Makes the resin it so heavy that you need a metal undercarriage?
5 October 2014, 15:57
Augie
Thanks Guys 🙂

Lol Holly, its not that heavy the metal looked like it was going to give more detail... tho the F-5 one is not one of SAC's best.
5 October 2014, 16:26
Wim van der Luijt
