Hi Aghis, Love the detail of the engine plumbing as seen thru the gear well. Can you post a close up of this with out the wing? I have the old Trimaster Ta 152 to build someday. Thanks Gary
28 August 2012, 16:25
Aghis Barberopoulos
Hello Gary, I will try to do what you asked, as I am about to fix the wings. Hold on...
28 August 2012, 16:30
Aghis Barberopoulos
There you go, I have added some progress photos. There are some good photos of the rear engine plumbing in various publications. The Ta 152 has a different engine, but the rears look somewhat similar I suppose...
Unfortunately I did not manage to escape a few fitting issues after joining the fuselage halves... overall it is an enjoyable little project.
28 August 2012, 17:39
Gary
Wow, I can almost smell the oil. Thanks Gary

I never knew that you could see all of that plumbing through the wheel well. This is why I love Scalemates - I learn things that I never knew that I wanted to learn!

And with Aghis you have always a really good teacher when it comes to German Aircraft of WWII!

That's good, as I have a 109E-4, 190A-3, Ju 88A-4, Me 163, and a Go 229 waiting in the stash!

Aghis Barberopoulos
Actually before I begin painting I have to deal with some frustrating issues: The usual problems with eduard kits: the gun panels are OK if left open, but if one wants to show them closed... what a pain!!! I have spent two afternoons on them and still not satisfied with result... 🙁
23 September 2012, 17:04
Markus Kutsch The Plastic Bench
Two afternoons???Man ,you seem a lot of time 🙂

Aghis, one question please: What kind/brand of putty do you use?
11 October 2012, 06:19
Aghis Barberopoulos
Here it is Valejo plastic putty - For bigger jobs I use milliput epoxy. Thanks for the support guys!
11 October 2012, 16:05

Nice work Aghis buddy 🙂
5 November 2012, 22:19
Aghis Barberopoulos
Preshading done, certain areas will have to be primed for aluminium paint to be applied prior to camouflage. 211063 had a lot of camo wear on the wing root.
25 November 2012, 20:57
Holger Kranich
Buddy, its great as usual!
25 November 2012, 22:33
Roland Sachsenhofer
"a lot of camo wear"... that sounds good to me! You are doing a real great job on this beautiful bird- it looks very nice, I am quite eager to see more.

Common aghis bring out the paints and put some colors on the dora......
26 November 2012, 19:51
Aghis Barberopoulos
First coats are finally on! I simulate the late war camo practices: thin coats of greens over whitish RLM76. More detail paintwork is to follow, and then mottling with RLM81 on the tail and rear fuselage. Thin overspray with RLM02 will be applied at the end, over the rear fuselage. A lot of work still to be done before satin varnish goes on...
14 December 2012, 19:45
Christian Lehmann
Looks good so far. I am keen to see more 😉
14 December 2012, 19:50
Philip De Keyser
Great paintjob Aghis, looks really good so far, can't wait to see more😉
14 December 2012, 22:41
Aghis Barberopoulos
Thank you so much guys! The actual aircraft was built most likely in December 1944, it would be nice if I could finish it within this december, 68 years later...
15 December 2012, 08:02
Steve Wilson
Gosh Aghis, you've been working along time on that kit, how old are you??? 🤔 Anyway you keep going, its looking good!!!
15 December 2012, 08:27
Aghis Barberopoulos
I was not born in 1944 Steve 🙂 🙂 Thank you for the encouragement!
15 December 2012, 11:12
Aghis Barberopoulos
Basic painting done. Mostly Gunze paints, except for the RLM81 (where xtracolor was used). Gunze RLM81 is the greenish version, not the brownish tone that I needed. Exhaust stains and paint wear is added based on photos. Landing gear, spinner and rear canopy are next...
19 December 2012, 20:34
Augie
Superb work Aghis 🙂
19 December 2012, 20:35

Thank you Augie, Michael and Holger! Very glad that you like it. I hope the details to be added later will further improve the overall looks.
20 December 2012, 06:54
Dirk Heyer
Hi Aghis,
seems to be a nice kit?! I was before I could reading your statements about the Edu- D9, a traditional Dragon votary.
Hmmm, I`ve to think about......
I like your airbrush skills. Your paintwork is always smooth and without any speckle.
That`s a feature of an experienced scale modeller....
Fine job you have done!
Greetz Dirk
21 December 2012, 06:52
Aghis Barberopoulos
Thank you Dirk! The model is pretty good, but not without problems. If you want to close the wingroot gun covers, you are in for a surprise. Also the fuselage gun cowl fit is tricky (maybe it is just me). Otherwise the kit has excellent exterior detail. About the camo painting, I used my 0.15mm nozzle H&S airbrush with diluted paint and approx 1 bar pressure. It still takes time and experience to get the right combination of paint solution and air pressure.
21 December 2012, 08:29
Zimmermaniac
I can only agree with Dirk 🙂
21 December 2012, 08:31

Markus Kutsch The Plastic Bench
Great work ,Aghis.
Looking forward to see the finished one.Are you going to weathering it a bit?
Suberb paint job.I am a little frightened of my first 2 tone (3 tone ) camo. But i know there are some exellent airbrush painter here who will give me some tips i think 🙂
(And of course are some of the best Brush painters here around :-D
23 December 2012, 09:10
Aghis Barberopoulos
I appreciate your comments Roland, Wil and Markus! Weathering is in progress, but as this aircraft only flew about 4 months, it will be restricted to some oil stains and streaks and accumulation of dirt (operating from woods). The real aircraft looked pretty good at war's end (apart from a flat tailwheel tyre). I have some good progress and I will post the final photos soon. It will be my Christmas present to you😉
23 December 2012, 11:46
Duncan Cook

Wonderful!!! Love the chipping work on the wings (near the cockpit).TOP,Mate.

😄
3 January 2013, 06:32
Holger Kranich
Aghis, what a top work, unbelieveable! I nearly cant find the right words for it!
3 January 2013, 09:06
Aghis Barberopoulos
Thank you all individually for your nice words!
Markus: Gunze has the nicest RLM paints out there, except for the RLM81 (Braunviolet) for which I needed the brownish version provided by xtracolor.
Holger: I was hoping that you would love her, as much as I have 🙂
3 January 2013, 18:06
Markus Kutsch The Plastic Bench
I bring this effect(tonal richness ,chromatic) with oils (iam oil adicted) . 😄 It s best for me.

I remember the photos of your amazing Yamato. When do you plan to proceed?
3 January 2013, 21:37
Holger Kranich
Hey Guy´s, there is a Tristar Marder 3 on his workbench! But progress is not far, isnt it Aghis?
4 January 2013, 08:21
Aghis Barberopoulos
You are all correct *blush*... I like German armor - not many are green...
The Marder III Ausf.H is in an early stage - I had much trouble deciding between winter or summer camo... Finally I will go for the winter one (I think). The Yamato is on hold for some months now, but it is time to pick it up again.
You give me much encouragement guys! 🙂

👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍
She is such a pretty girl, your Blue 9 Dora.
Well done! An attractive mid-production finish. Absolutely accurate replicated if compared with original pictures and well weathered!
That's truly a lot of positive comments worth.
I like your attention for those details often overseen, like the little wire for the tailwheel retraction on the right oleo or the data plate beneath the fuselage black cross seen on the original pics.
Great job!
5 October 2014, 10:25
Wim van der Luijt
What can I possibly add to this......it's a great paintjob and please keep them coming!

Album info

Wing to fuselage fit is very good, nothing like the A-5 kit. The engine rear part is done first, the cockpit followed. Compare the MDC 1/48 cockpit with the 1/32 Aires cockpit behind. An enjoyable project, with only problem the gun covers - if one wants them closed.
