I'm in... Cuban Sea Furies are always an interesting subject, and I like a lot the fact you build these Frog/Novo kits... Good luck with this new endeavor!

Thank you for your interest in my project. And a bit of a revolutionary mood from 1961. The song "Cuba is my love". 🙂

The kit quality is frightening; I would refuse to invest my precious time in it... I am very curious how your effort will look at the end!

Thanks mates for your interest in this projects. I looked at my other Soviet-era NOVO (ex-FROG) models and found out that this "Fury" is the worst in quality compared to the rest. The rest were cast better. So, there will be more projects with old kits in the future 🙂

Guys, I have a question about the painting of this "Fury". As I understand it, before sale to Cuba, the company "Hawker" performed repairs and painting these aircrafts. So the base colors may be BS Dark Green on top and BS Sky Type S on the bottom. Later, the Cubans applied additional camouflage patterns in a different color, possibly Dark Brown (unfortunately there are no colored photos). Or am I wrong?

Guy, thank you, I have already seen this photo and I read that this color is incorrect. This is a late-model color scheme characteristic of Cuban MiGs. In the picture, I have collected some colors from the Cuban "Furies," including a single black-and-white photo.

In the old photo, there seems to be a mottled coloration after all, but the colors are unknown.

👍 I agree, in your photo it does appear to be mottled.

I read somewhere that the Cubans in a hurry repainted their Furies, added spots to distinguish them from the planes of the counterrevolutionaries. Because the revolutionaries had fears that the enemies might use the same aircraft in the same color, as happened with the "Invaders". But I may be wrong here, I've been reading about it for a long time and now I can't find the source.

Follow the link to see some interesting photos of Cuban "Furies". Some of the planes seem to have spotted camouflage, while others have striped camouflage.

Album info

I recently visited the guys who had returned from Cuba. We smoked cigars, drank Cuban rum, and talked about, among other things, the Cuban revolution. At that moment, I had an idea to assemble an aircraft of the Cuban Air Force that would have been involved in revolutionary events at that time. I ordered an old NOVO (FROG) "Sea Fury" kit and old decals from the 1990s for it. Let's see what happens.
