Bell X-1

Album image #1
The Bell X-1 in the livery of October 14, 1947, the day Charles “Chuck” Yeager broke the sound barrier (the first time in the history of aviation) with the “Glamorous Glennis”.

Album image #2
Classic start with the cockpit of the aircraft.

Album image #3
The aircraft after filling and sanding and applying the canopy masks.

Album image #4
After painting the canopy black, it was masked off.

Album image #5
The primer has been applied.

Album image #6
The aircraft was sprayed in an orange base tone and then exposed parts of the aircraft were preshaded.

Album image #7
The preshading was done in a very minimally tinted basic tone. I think it was 10:1 orange to black.

Album image #8
The final top color was applied in the ratio of 8:1 orange to red.

Album image #9
The slightly darker top color was removed in some places so that the slightly lighter base color appeared again. The previously silver-sprayed parts were lightly chipped.

Album image #10
After a layer of clear varnish, the decals were applied.
