I used pigment which adheres well to the surface, but it is not finished yet, I will other colour tones and oils in some areas, especially the lower hull. I am happy that you like it Holger ! It gives me confidence for the big one to come (Scharnhorst)😉

As long as it is fun to build and display, the IPMS does not matter that much...this is my first attempt at 1/350. As Herr Jurgens put it, it is for the memory of the fallen young men and especially Hans Langsdorff in this case.

The special edition kit has a metal plate with the ship details. I have prepared a wooden base in 'dry dock' style in dark shiny finish... A brass plate would be an interesting addition... If only I manage to finish the rigging in time!

Rigging is really horrible, i hate it but its necessary... I figured out a way its not tooo bad: I´m using a very fine fishline, attach it to both points and take a heatingsource in the near till the line is tight enough. I hope you understand what i mean, but maybe Frank Spahr has any good ideas to this topic?

For this scale there is a very fine nylon line (thinner than human hair !) called lycra rigging. It is just that it will be the first time... at least I have some drawings and some nice photos.

Do you want to attach the lycra with superglue? Or with white glue?

A tiny amount of cyanoacrylic glue should do it, in order to have instant adherence. The key is to get the tension right!

Absolutely! I hope the glue is not agressive to the lycra! My fishline, for example, dont likes to be glued with cyanoacrylic, it literally melted away...

Cyanoacrylic worked very well with the finish line I used with the 1/32 He51! But that was 0.018 diameter. I will let you know.

Hi all, indeed rigging is a special part in ship modeling. A well done rig is an eycatcher, a less well done rig can ruin your fine build and painted model. There are some different methods how to make a rig. Streched sprue, Caenis fishing line, fine brass rod etc. Jim Baumann explain his favourite method by using stretched sprue in Modelwarships: wwwshipmodels.info/m...php?f=4&t=37536
Using Caenis fishing line is more or less the same but the fishing line is tensile, stretched sprue not. I did not like rigging but I use both methods with more or less good results.

Caenis line looks very promising, my only problem is attachment - cyanoacrylic glue does not seem to work - and it has to be a way that will not affect the details around the point of attachment...any help is most appreciated. 🙂

Hi Aghis, I used it on two models and had no problem gluing the rigg with cyanoacrylic glue. I applied glue to one end and add the line. When the glue dried completely I stretched the line carefully to its next end, hold it there apply glue and wait until its dry. David Griffith use a modeling material to hold each line in position until the glue dried completely. Here is a link to MW.com, there you find some more information.

Just about. Local dialects are variations on the same theme which is the master language. Accents are different also from south to north, or from different islands etc.
